'Nip/Tuck' Carves Out Spot for Baker Multiple Emmy winner Kathy Baker is joining the twisted world of "Nip/Tuck" for a guest-starring arc.The former "Picket Fences" star will appear in two episodes of FX's hit show, playing the biological mother of Dr. Christian Troy (Julian McMahon). Her first appearance is scheduled for Tuesday (Oct. 18), with her second show set for Nov. 8.Her character, Gail Pollack, will tell Christian the truth about the circumstances surrounding his birth, which could open up a whole new set of psychological sinkholes for the damaged doctor and his close friends, Sean (Dylan Walsh) and Julia McNamara (Joely Richardson)."Nip/Tuck," which was already FX's highest-rated series, has hit new heights in the opening of its third season. The premiere episode drew 5.3 million viewers, the most for any episode of a series in the network's history. Subsequent episodes have delivered close to 4 million viewers per week.Baker won three Emmys in the mid-1990s for playing Dr. Jill Brock on "Picket Fences." She's been nominated for Emmys four other times, most recently in 2003 for her supporting role in TNT's movie "Door to Door."Other recent credits include "Cold Mountain," Showtime's "Sucker Free City," "13 Going on 30" and a recurring part on "Boston Public." She also co-stars in the feature "All the King's Men," due for release in December.
